COMIC CON 2017

Last Saturday was the annual MCM Midlands Comic Con, which was held in my home town. Every year me and my friends go and, even with my job, this year was no exception!
For thoses who aren't familiar with comic con, it is a convention for all things nerdy. The organisers, MCM, travel around the UK and put on multiple conventions. From The Walking Dead to Game of Thrones, Marvel to anime, you name it, it's probably there. Whether it's merchandise being sold, people cosplaying as the characters or even the stars themselves doing signings, you will find something there from your favorite show.
Once we all met up on Saturday at 9am, we waited in the queue for the doors to open at 9:30. After that, we were released into our happy place!
There were lots of great stalls this year, including one that I fell in love with called Scentopia. This stall was based around Alice In Wonderland and specifically the little bottle that says "drink me" from the story. Scentopia sells lots of different drink me bottle shower gels in lots of different colours and scents. Some of these include palma violets, rhubarb and custard and strawberry laces (my fave!). The thing I liked the most about this was that none of the colours matched the scent which was very interesting and rather strange. These scents were also sold as candles and room sprays and they are just the coolest little things. I will link their shop below for you to check them out. They would make wonderful gifts for pretty much anyone.

My favourite thing about the Comic Cons are the guests. Every year they have quite a few guests that come to do signings and photos with the people there. This year, we were very excited to find out that Sean Kelly, from Storage Hunters, would be there. I love watching the show and I now love it even more after meeting Sean. He was so lovely and let us take some photos with him after his talk. During his talk he answered questions from the audience and even surprised us all by doing an auction. He auctioned off various posters he had collected from his previous Comic Cons and had had them signed. He auctioned them all off to help make a little bit of money for Help The Heros. He was so lovely and polite and seemed so grateful to everyone who bought something for his chosen charity.

Something me and my friend Megan have been doing since we started going to Comic Cons has become a tradition accidentally. That tradition is... taking a selfie with DARTH VADER! I kid you not, we have been doing this for 3 years now, take a look at our evolutions:

Little things like this make me smile. It doesn't even feel like 3 years ago that the first one of these was taken, so it's a bit strange looking back on them. Our selfie game has definitely improved over the years.
Comic Con is great fun! If you want to know more about them or find out when the next one is then check out the link below.
And don't forget to smile! x
