Last Saturday, myself and Tina went along to the BSAVA 2019 congress. We got the train down to Birmingham and then explored the exhibition for most of the day.

BSAVA stands for the British Small Animal Veterinary Association and each year they put on a congress for veterinary professionals. There is an exhibition hall and various lecture theatres all set up ready for the event. The exhibition is free to enter, which we attended, and there are always lots of goodies to take away. We didn't go to any of the talks however these will probably be more beneficial to us nearer graduation or once we've qualified.

We had a great time chatting to the reps on each stand and discussing new products, current issues and entering lots of competitions! I even managed to win a bottle of prosecco and a barking dog.

One stand in particular caught my eye. Emeraid are an American company who make various critical care foods for the use in practice. There are foods for both small animals and also some designed for exotic species based on their diets; herbivore, carnivore, omnivore and pescivore. The lady we spoke to was lovely and explained everything we needed to know.

A few days later in practice we had a lovely little gecko come in because he wasn't eating. Long story short, we discussed different things to try and I remembered Emeraid from the congress. We ordered some food in for him and he loves it! He is now one very happy gecko.

We went around the exhibition for a little while longer and decided to call it a day when we could no longer carry anything else. It was a lovely day out and I'm glad we could help little Boris out.

And don't forget to smile! x
