BAKING COOKIES

If you know me you will know that I can't cook or bake. I even nearly set my house on fire by putting butter with a foil wrapper in my microwave. Despite this, on my afternoon off on Wednesday I decided to try and make some cookies!
I found the recipe in my diary from Louise Pentland (there will be a post where I don't mention here at some point I promise) and decided to try baking again. Not gonna lie, it didn't go too well. But anyway, here's the recipe!
You will need:
125g of unsalted butter
100g of brown sugar
1 egg
1.5 tsp of vanilla extract
225g of self-rising flour
0.5 tsp of salt
200g of chocolate chips

1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Make sure you remember to take anything already in the oven out as you don't want any trays heating up for no reason like I had.
2. Combine the butter and and sugar in a bowl. If it looks slightly like breadcrumbs, then that's okay. It will get better!
3. Add the egg and vanilla extract and then also add in the flour and salt using a sieve. Mix them together until they have combined and stick together when you smoosh it (technical terms) with your hands.
4. Add the chocolate chips in to the mixture. You can use practically anything instead if you want to. I made three different types of cookies, ones with milk chips, ones with white chips, and ones with milk, white and walnuts.

5. Cover a baking tray with some greaseproof paper. If you don't have any then you can use butter and wipe it around the tray.
6. Roll the dough in to small balls and push them down to make flatter circles around 3cm or 4cm across. Don't place them too close together as they do expand slightly in the oven.
7. Put them in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes. Keep checking them so they don't burn like mine. Smaller cookies will cook faster than bigger ones.
8. Keep doing this with the other batches.
And that's it. Pretty simple! See how mine turned out below. I may have left them in the oven for a little too long but they still taste great!
Let's face it, I will never make it to Bake Off. If you try this recipe out then I hope you have better look than me.
I am gonna try to make more things for my blog in the future, try being the key word there, so let me know in the comments below if you have any good or simple recipes.
Have a good day guys
And don't forget to smile! x
